Movers Hackney Modern Slavery Statement
This Modern Slavery Statement is made by Movers Hackney in recognition of our responsibilities under applicable modern slavery and human trafficking legislation. It outlines the steps we are taking, and will continue to take, to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking from occurring within our operations and supply chains. Movers Hackney is committed to conducting business ethically and with integrity, ensuring that respect for human rights is at the core of how we operate.
Our Commitment and Zero-Tolerance Policy
Movers Hackney has a clear and unequivocal zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery, human trafficking, forced labour and all forms of exploitation. We expect the same high standards from all those we work with, including employees, contractors, agency workers, suppliers and other business partners.
We will not knowingly engage with any organisation that is involved in or associated with modern slavery. Where credible concerns arise, we will investigate promptly and, where appropriate, suspend or terminate relationships with any party that is unable or unwilling to meet our standards.
Our Business and Supply Chains
Movers Hackney provides removals, storage and related services. Our supply chains include providers of vehicles, equipment, packaging materials, facilities management, recruitment, and other professional and support services.
We recognise that modern slavery risks can exist at various tiers of the supply chain, particularly where agency labour, subcontracted services or international sourcing are involved. We are committed to improving our visibility of these risks and to working collaboratively with suppliers to reduce them.
Supplier Standards and Audits
We are developing and implementing proportionate supplier due diligence processes to identify, assess and manage modern slavery risks. Our approach includes the following measures:
We communicate our zero-tolerance stance on modern slavery to key suppliers and expect them to uphold equivalent standards within their own operations and supply chains. We are progressively integrating ethical and human rights criteria into our supplier selection and onboarding processes where appropriate.
Where we identify higher-risk categories, such as labour providers, subcontracted services or imported materials, we may conduct targeted supplier audits or request evidence of their own modern slavery policies, training and controls. These audits may be carried out directly by Movers Hackney or by suitably qualified third parties, where justified by the level of risk.
Suppliers who are unable to demonstrate adequate safeguards may be required to implement corrective actions within specified timeframes. Failure to address serious concerns can result in the suspension or termination of the commercial relationship.
Reporting Channels and Whistleblowing
Movers Hackney encourages a culture of openness where concerns about modern slavery, human trafficking or any related unethical practices can be raised without fear of retaliation. All employees, workers, suppliers and other stakeholders are encouraged to report any suspicions or concerns they may have.
Reports can be made through internal reporting lines or directly to senior management. Concerns will be taken seriously, treated as confidential as far as practicable, and investigated thoroughly and promptly. We will not tolerate victimisation of any individual who raises a concern in good faith, and any such retaliation will be treated as a disciplinary matter.
Training and Awareness
Relevant members of staff with responsibility for procurement, recruitment, supplier management or site operations are being provided with guidance to help them recognise indicators of modern slavery and to understand our reporting procedures. We intend to raise awareness across our workforce so that the risks of modern slavery are understood and actively identified.
Monitoring, Governance and Annual Review
Responsibility for overseeing our approach to modern slavery rests with the senior management of Movers Hackney. We are committed to continuously improving our processes and controls to reduce the risk of exploitation in our operations and supply chains.
This Modern Slavery Statement will be reviewed at least annually to ensure it remains accurate, effective and aligned with legal requirements and best practice. As part of this review, we will consider feedback from stakeholders, outcomes of any investigations, findings from supplier audits, and changes in our business activities or risk profile.
Following each review, we will update this statement and our internal procedures where necessary, and we will communicate any significant changes to relevant employees and business partners. By maintaining transparent, responsible and accountable practices, Movers Hackney aims to play its part in the wider effort to eradicate modern slavery and human trafficking.
